Starting the Spring Planting.

It has been an odd week, I have got up made breakfast, then gone back to bed with it. It is nice and warm as mornings are still chilly and I feel really there is no need to get up, to do what? So I read, then eventually start my boring day of cleaning, decluttering, sewing or craft. Same oh same oh, and it is getting to me, constantly being at home.

I made an effort though to weed and plant as it is nice in the sun at the moment. The front bed by the entrance now has some new carrot seeds, lettuce seedlings, a cherry tomato for the pole in the middle and garlic that has been growing well, plus a few flower seedlings that were thrown out by Bunnings that John bought home, and I rescued.

Will look good when everything is growing.

Planting carrots seeds by 5 rows.

I also tidied up the front rose garden, and planted some yellow Coreopsis as well. Plus a couple of thrown out daisies, which I think are Osteospermum African Daisy.

Weed free and  new climbing rose is Pierre de Bronsard, my favorite and has 2 pink buds.

The broccoli gardens has been halved as I left two in there that were reproducing side shoots, the others didn't show any signs of doing that. I have planted cherry bush tomatoes this year so I don't have to stake, first time I have done that so will be interesting to see what happens. The cabbage garden has also been halved as one cabbage left to pick, nothing yet in the space left.

Broccoli Garden

These Tomatoes doing well, came up on their own and I thinned out to grow up frame. Think they are a large variety, from last year.

Herb garden, rhubarb is doing well that I transplanted earlier in the year.

Down the back corner John dug out the top soil for me, as it was not very good and collected all the compost around and refilled it up. In this garden I planted a butternut pumpkin seedling and 3 more seeds, plus cucumber seeds on the fence line with slats to grow up and zucchini seeds as well in the very front. If it all works will be a mass of vines in that corner we don't use, and gets lots of heat.

Pumpkin corner, note strawberries I picked today, first of season.

I have also been attacking the back rose garden, this week, as the weeds were getting big and I needed to do some more pruning. I started the other side but need to finish it. Planted 3 coreopsis there as well and in the rose garden a purple wave petunia that grow to a metre round. I bought them for 3 hanging baskets in the front and had a spare one. We can see this garden from the back verandah so should be showy.

More cleanup for this area.

I found a geranium I thought I had lost so rescued it. The leaves are the feature as they turn a bright yellow in the sun. The pink one is ready for propagating and this came from Victoria called Mrs. ???? I forget.

It is overcast today, but it looks like I will be spending the week watering the seeds and seedlings.

Newcastle, Hunter region went into lockdown  which is 3 hrs away, but two students took it to Armidale, so now that is in lockdown roughly the same distance. Looks like it won't end this year.

Stay Safe.

 Till Next Time.
