More Painting & Reconditioning Potting Bench.

The two girls came over again yesterday and we got stuck into the verandah again. One board had been replaced on the roof and I had not painted it even though it has probably been two years so ask Miss P to climb the ladder, she then started painting the poles on her way down on her own initiative So in the end 2 poles are  also done with two coats.

One board left on roof.

So awkward to do this roof, she now knows what I went through doing the entire verandah.

Can't wait to see the floor boards done.

I moved my potting bench to this back verandah, from the front as it will be just outside the kitchen. John sanded the top and I taught Miss V, how to rub a protective oil mix by Cabot into the wood with a cloth. She did really well for an 8 year old. By the time she gets to high school she should be well trained to take over from Miss P lol. I am having a great time teaching them to be self sufficient.

Two coats of special oil finished.

My original chopping block I had in the kitchen early days that John made, I have put that next to the potting bench, so Miss P had a go at sanding some of it but found the vibration on her hands after 10 mins a bit odd, but she will get used to it eventually with practice. John finished it off.

Waiting for its coat of oil.

The verandah is in a huge mess now so will finish trying to clean it up today.

The shade garden has been moved around as the shoe stand John bought for $5 is now going to hold plants. The Jabotica tree which I don't like the fruit of is ideal for shading this area, needs a prune but it is a nice little nook. I also finished painting a segment of the fence next to this area, while the girls worked. Next door had replaced the boards.

I finished weeding the lower back garden and noticed the bluebells were on their way to flowering. A little bit of home as they came from Melbourne originally. Our family in generations have always had bluebells. Not that good for this area though as a bit hot.

Spot the bluebells

The pool on the other had is looking dreadful. Lack of rain has dried it up and I would love the opportunity to replace the lining which is much needed. It will be expensive and we are still saving for the caravan.

Down to the Muddy Bottom.

As most in Australia. would know by now, NSW is in a complete lockdown for a week. The first time ever, not that it affects me greatly. The Community Garden is closed though, so will be nice to have John home.

My RA Specialist appointment in Brisbane, last Monday ended up being a telehealth, and he wants me to stay on my current medicine which is just coping basically, but interestingly said that by Christmas the virus will be let run its course and only hospital admissions and deaths recorded. UK has done the same thing currently, so I guess we are following them in a way.

I have not been interested in having the vaccine, if that is what you call it, people are still getting covid with it, so to me it is not one, anyway I have decided to go ahead with it. It will be a big gamble either way for me, I won't be fully vaccinated to start with, being immunosuppressant, there is no information of any reaction good or bad with my medicine I am on, and being 3 weeks off  my medicine, means a painful time.

First Pierre De Ronsard Rose.

It has not been an easy decision. I remember getting a flu injection when I was 18 and being very sick with it afterwards, and never had one since.

Covid though, is going to be around a few more years yet, and all of us learning to live with it.  I will be seeing my local GP this coming week, originally for a referral to my heart Dr. and  now to discuss what next, but mainly about my osteoarthritis knees and difficulty walking. Time to sort that problem out.

Well that's it for this week, stay safe everyone.

Till Next Time.
