It has been 6 years since I painted the front verandah. I know because I wrote a blog about it luckily, as sometimes you don't see the slow decline of something.

I am not sure when it happened but John started dumping anything from the car to empty it on the verandah and as we know, once there is a pile of something the bigger it will get. The rug is worn in places from walking on it and I added another seating system as didn't know where to put it. Time to improve all of it.
For a front entrance where no-one can comfortably get to the door, I find this very upsetting. It has been several years like this.
Miss P was due to come over yesterday so I also asked for Miss V as well, bless her heart at 8 yrs. old she willingly helps Grandma. John pulled out the railings so they were easier to paint, he considered doing the wire railings as in the back but I didn't like the openness of it for a front entrance. These wooden railings give an enclosed feeling which is more comfortable, and more in keeping with the style of the house.
Felt weird with them down. |
Girls busy painting. |
Back in the painting outfit. |
If it wasn't for the girls coming over I don't know whether I would have bothered with this work, maybe, but it is better with someone helping, even kids.
John also has his computer clients in this area. I often wonder what they think? |
The grey chairs are going back, which will also clear up some space, and I will try and find a new rug for the area. The black seating is going, it just doesn't work in this or any other situation. Putting it on the nature strip with a sign might be a start or ringing up one of the charities to pick it up also an idea.
The flooring is next, but as I will paint it the same colour as the plastic type boards which will go on the back, we will have to get a sample first. The rest of the verandah doesn't get the weather so are fine, just need a new coat of paint.
It is a start, and will keep you updated. My fingers and toes are crossed for luck.
One of my new roses, smell divine as well. |
Back now to finish off one last bit of railing.
Till Next Time.
Hello Chris, the items that are left in this area, are they useful? Why aren't they stored in the shed? If not perhaps sell them on your local buy/sell? Regards Robyn
ReplyDeleteA lot of it John keeps in his car, until he then needs it empty. The double garage and workroom are overfull of stuff. He is a hoarder. I try my best.
