Picking Up The Poop

Well picking up poop is not every ones idea of a successful morning but my sister's boss owns a farm and that is exactly what we did.

When the opportunity for cow manure comes your way, one shouldn't let that go, so off we went Saturday morning. The farm is on an island and is placed at the curve of a river. What a lovely place to live, although they don't swim in the water due to bull sharks living in it.

Rivers edge

All came over to see what we were doing.

It had rained slightly overnight and we were worried about how wet it was underfoot, but the farm had received very little, although it was still a bit overcast.

My sister of course helped, nothing like having a family outing.

Loving every minute of it.

We moved around making piles while John collected it in the ute.

Love the eyes of the cows so gently looking.

It took about two hours wandering around where all the trees were and the feed lot to pick up what we wanted. Probably will go back another time, before the hot weather.

Fresh as a Daisy

One loner not sure.

The ute was full and we also collected a bit of hay to stop the cover from getting dirty. We shared it all, dumping my sister's into buckets and containers on a flat block, while we carted ours down steps in a wheel barrow and buckets, to the back garden. Not the easiest to do.

On the way home we came across a family of ducklings.

So cute

Another productive morning.

Till Next Time.

  1. So does it go straight on the garden as is? Do you mix it into the dirt already there? and how much does it smell once on the garden? Is it as bad as store bought blood and bone?

  2. Doesn't smell at all, some goes straight om but mixed in, some in compost bin, and some in buckets. Fresh stuff will burn roots.
