Houseboat weekend.

A year ago the family booked 2 houseboats to cruise on the Myall Lakes, but was cancelled due to covid and finally re booked for this Anzac weekend. There are 16 of us, 8 grandchildren from 8 to 20 and 8 adults.

To enter the actual lake requires travelling the Upper Myall River, which is quite long. The reflections of the trees along the bank in the water were amazing.

We all had certain food to bring, so plenty of it. Seafood and salad the first night, BBQ the 2nd. The overcast weather and rain now and then didn't bother anyone, as actually the cooler weather was probably good, I can't imagine how hot it would be over summer especially downstairs bedroom.

Everyone has had a go at steering, which is a lot easier on the lake than the river as you have to keep away from the bank there, and the wind was buffeting the boat a lot.

The younger grandchildren had a ball, and usually kept together on one boat with a couple of adults to supervise. The rest of the adults congregated in the quiet on the other boat, enjoying the cruising, stopping for lunch by anchoring in the lake and mooring up together, which meant the ability to swap boats and have a meal on just one.

Two boats together

3 days was just enough, with so many of us, but as individual family you could spend longer.

Overall it was a lovely weekend, and John had a birthday cake for the 28th.

Till Next time.
