Landscaping to the Front

The bank garden at the front is always a hassle to keep nice, walking on it is difficult and as you can't really see it from the top level it is left to it own until the weeds get ridiculous. Doesn't take long to clean it up, a morning usually, but it needed to be "made easier" which is what I told Lawrence who is doing all the work.

Looking down

This is how it looks after all the big weeds were cleared.

After all the clearing and getting the general idea what was there and then me digging up all the hippeastrums, we decided that splitting the bank into two would be a help so then the idea of a path down the middle was decided.

Avocado on the right never fruits it is 10 years old. Weeds in front from pond.

In amongst all the dirt is a lot of rocks as well so these were collected and the idea of a rock wall came up thanks to Lawrence.

Lots of weeds
Between the front and back over a 1 ton of rubbish has gone to the dump.

We bought some 30cm pavers and they were laid for the rubbish bins to go in place and a tiny path of rocks to step down to the path that runs across the middle.

Rubbish bin area, last little bit to be finished.

The Rock wall used all the odd rocks scattered everywhere plus a few extras around the gardens to finish it off.

Hippeastrums at the top

Still heaps more plantings to go

Gravel in front to drain water

As yet I haven't decided what to do where the weed mat is. I know it will not  hold the nut grass back and Lawrence was thinking maybe a creeping Australian ground cover such as a banksia, or grevillia. Something with flowers.
I have planted the hippeastrums in the top part.

The driveway on the edge was never finished so that is going to be done also.

Meanwhile do you remember the mushroom workshop we did a while back, well the bags are starting to produce some nice looking oyster mushrooms.

We have split two of them into 5 bags each as told to do. Might be dehydrating if it works.

Till next time.

    1. Thanks Deb, after all this rain the weeds in my nice clean backyard have taken over again. Need to have a daily garden routine, if I can find the time.
